The Screwtape Letters has become a Christian classic. Written by C.S. Lewis in 1943, the letters are the correspondence between the devil and a junior demon at work in the world. Obviously this is literary conceit, not to be taken literally. But the exchanges raise questions of Christian belief and conduct.
